Lipica Stud Farm, the cradle of the Lipizzaner horse, is a 300-hectare estate of pastures, tree-lined avenues and stables near Sežana. According to the stud farm’s FAQ, well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be on a leash throughout the visit; they are not allowed in the covered show arena (horse performances). Horses are sensitive to dogs, so keep the leash short by the paddocks and stables. From April to October the stud farm is open every day; from November to the end of March it is closed on Mondays. Parking is paid. The gravel avenues make a pleasant autumn walk with a dog.
