On Istria’s east coast, according to the Istria Tourist Board, swimming with a dog is allowed in the Girandella area of Rabac, where a section of the beach is marked for dogs to stay and swim. Girandella is a shingle beach below the resort, with pines above the shore and access from town along the coastal promenade. As the main beach in Rabac is one of the busiest in this part of Istria, stick to the marked section with your dog — dogs are not allowed on Blue Flag beaches. Bring water and a mat for your dog, as the shingle gets very hot during the day.
