Valovine is one of the Pula beaches where, according to the Istria Tourist Board, dogs may stay and swim all day, all year round. The beach lies on the south-western edge of the city near Stoja and, being close to residential neighbourhoods, is popular with locals — which means dogs are an entirely ordinary sight here. Besides Valovine, Pula’s dog-friendly spots include the small harbour by Camp Stoja, Saccorgiana beach, the beach by the Verudela lighthouse, Hidrobaza, Štinjanska vala and Galebove stijene. Shade is limited to a few pines above the shore, so at the height of summer come in the morning or late afternoon.
