Leashleash required

The Great Soča Gorge is a 750 m long, up to 15 m deep slot of emerald pools about 11 km from Bovec on the road to the Vršič pass; park at the turn-off for the Lepena valley (gorge exit) or a kilometre further up at the upper end. You view it from a marked forest footpath on the left bank and from a wooden suspension bridge, part of the Soča Trail. The gorge lies in Triglav National Park, where dogs must be on a leash in the natural environment and dogs may not swim in high-mountain lakes and streams. In damp, cold and winter months the Soča Valley tourist board advises against the exposed viewpoints because of slippery and icy sections, so stay on the path in autumn.
