Bohinj has a clear rule: the municipal public order decree bans animals from swimming in the designated bathing waters at Ukanc and Fužinarski zaliv, while everywhere else along the lake dogs may swim. Because the lake lies inside Triglav National Park, dogs must be leashed at all times — that is both a legal requirement and a safety measure. Swimming in all the high-mountain lakes (the Triglav Lakes, Lake Krn) is banned for dogs and people alike. The destination warns against letting your dog drink lake water or swim near greenish and brownish algal mats and slimy deposits; rinse it with clean water after contact and see a vet immediately if it seems unwell.
