The Sečovlje Salina Nature Park is divided into two areas, and for visitors with dogs it matters which one you choose: your dog may accompany you on a short leash only in the Fontanigge area, while entry with a dog is not allowed at Lera (where salt is still actively produced). At Fontanigge you can walk along the gravel path by the Dragonja river among the abandoned salt workers’ houses and wetlands where many birds nest. Bring plenty of water — there is little shade and the salt pans get very hot in summer. Check the park’s opening hours before visiting.
