Leashleash recommended

The Dovžan Gorge lies 3.2 km north-east of Tržič, where the Tržiška Bistrica cut into the Karavanke and exposed rock packed with Late Palaeozoic fossils; it is protected as a natural monument. According to the Municipality of Tržič, the scenic educational trail starts at the car park in Čadovlje and runs past information boards, over a bridge and through a tunnel, past a cascade and a geological column to the Dolina exhibition and education centre, which in October opens on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays in good weather from 11:00 to 17:00. The dog directory Potepanje s psom describes the trail as suitable for walking with a dog and calls autumn, with its colourful nature and pleasant temperatures, an excellent time to visit; because of steep sections it recommends a leash. Traffic also uses the tunnel, so keep your dog close there in any case. The steep Bencet trail with steel steps and cables is meant for people without a fear of heights — with a dog, stay on the educational trail.
