Mel beach in Kampor, in the north-west of Rab, appears on the dog beach list of the Prijatelji životinja association. It lies in the shallow Kampor bay, where the sea retreats far from the shore at low tide and stays very shallow — a rarely comfortable combination on the Adriatic for dogs that are still learning about water or love running on wet sand. The shore is sand and shingle, with a pine wood and shade behind it. Because the bay is shallow, the water warms up strongly in summer; offer your dog fresh drinking water regularly and rinse it after swimming.
