The most popular trail in Fužine in Gorski Kotar is completely flat, 6.3 km long and links the Bajer and Lepenica lakes. It starts at the playground below the Bajer dam: turn left to a bridge and continue on a gravel road along the lake, past mallards, swans, anglers and outdoor fitness equipment. In autumn the surrounding forests turn golden and the mornings are misty; the summer beach bars and tourist train are gone and the trail is quieter. The county guide for dog owners (Primorje-Gorski Kotar County) lists Lake Bajer among its trips to take with a dog and among the lakes where dogs can swim. The trail suits all ages; bring a lead and poo bags.
