Vransko Lake, between Biograd na Moru and Pakoštane, is the largest natural lake in Croatia, circled by a 40 km cycling path that passes viewpoints and pine woods. The park rules prohibit dogs from roaming free – keep your dog on a leash at all times – and visitors may only use marked paths and areas intended for sightseeing. Entry requires a ticket, which you keep until you leave. Autumn is more pleasant here than summer: the heat eases, and the park is an important wintering ground where more than 100,000 waterbirds regularly arrive. A good starting point is the Crkvine info centre by the lake.
